A quiet studio room at golden hour with a single glowing lamp

Our Story

The usual was never the plan.

Zenara began the way most good rooms do — with one person refusing to settle.

Shriya was not born into the design trade. She came to it the honest way: through years of walking into beautiful stores in other countries and wondering why none of this ever made it home. The lamp that held a whole café together in Lisbon. The chair in a Tokyo lobby that made waiting feel like a privilege. Back in India, the showrooms offered the same safe catalogue — competent, familiar, and entirely forgettable.

Somewhere along the way, she decided the usual simply would not do.

A still life of considered objects in soft afternoon light

The studio

So she built Zenara: a studio in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout that gathers designer lighting, accent furniture and décor from makers across the world — pieces rarely, if ever, seen in Indian homes. Not everything. Only the objects with that particular quality: the ones a room quietly rearranges itself around.

Our mark

Our mark is the crane.

It stands still longer than seems reasonable, moves only with intention, and is never once graceless. That is how we buy — slowly, deliberately, with a strong eye and no committee. If a piece doesn’t hold the floor on its own, it doesn’t come home with us.

Some of what we carry costs ₹2,000. Some of it considerably more. All of it is chosen to outlast trends, and to do the one thing we believe furniture and light are for: change how a room feels the moment you walk in.
